For all of the English speakers: Vicente Padilla pitched an incredible game. 8 strikeouts and gave up 2 hits. Padilla almost kept the no hitter if it were not for a James Loney boot into right field. The Dodgers improved on the RISP with some 2 out scoring and excellent base running! Now we are on a winning streak and the effort and attitude is starting to turn for the better. The clubhouse is more lively and the fight is seen in the eyes of the players.
Big contributions from:
Theriot: took away 2 base hits. Huge double in the bottom of the 8th.
Ronnie Belliard: Big RBI double! Huge! Need to see more of that!
Scott Posednik. Stealing and driving in two runs with a huge bloop fly ball. It looked like I chip shot in golf before it landed between struggling Chris Denorfia (in the field) and Will Venable. For all the crap I gave Pod earlier, he is definitely coming through.
On a sad note, we learned that Russ Martin is out 15 days and placed on the DL, but that might be a permanent move for the year. A torn labrum brings him back by Spring training, but maybe not with the Dodgers??? In my opinion...he stays if he is cheap, but look out for up and coming catchers in the minors.
One last note on this victory...it's not 10PM on the west coast and the game is over. Vicente should do that every time. Glad that Torre came to his senses and let him finish the job!
GO DODGERS!!! GO BLUE!!!
